In order for you to be a great receiver, you must learn the proper technique for catching a football. Hand/eye coordination plays a big role in catching passes. With a good foundation, you will be able to make the simple catches along with the tough ones.
In our last video, we introduced the skill of catching and how to catch a football when it is thrown above the waist. The next catch to look at is the low ball.
One last thing to look at with catching the football is for deep passes that are over the shoulder. With this catch, you will use the technique of pinkies and elbows together in order to cradle the catch (like catching an egg). Just like that egg, you want to catch the ball with your hands away from the body to give cushion.
Before you ever think about throwing a football, you must first learn how to grip it. Gripping the football correctly improves the throwing mechanics and balance of the ball. Remember, you must first grip the ball before you can throw it.
In order for a quarterback to be effective, he or she must first learn the foundation of becoming a good passer. It starts with the grip that we worked on in our last video. With the grip established, it is time to look at the mechanics of throwing.
For quarterbacks, learning how to drop back properly is important. As a quarterback, you will want to work on dropping back and getting your feet set and ready to throw.
