Sayuri Haruno dreams of becoming a pastry chef and enrolls in Fleurir Confectionary Academy, an elite school located in Tokyo’s trendy Aoyama district…
The main character, Haruno Sayuri, has just entered Fleurir Confectionery School in Aoyama. After meeting some of her classmates - Mochizuki Ran, Sannomiya Tsubaki, and a boy who gives off a bad first impression, Kouzuki Ryou - she heads for the entrance ceremony. There, three instructors who excel at the confectionery arts - Aoi Mitsuki, Hanafusa Gilbert, and Suzumi Yoshinosuke - introduce themselves. And thus Sayuri begins her training to become a pâtissier.
In an orientation exercise for the new students to get to know each other, Sayuri is paired with Ryou, the boy she met before the entrance ceremony. As the son of a Japanese sweets maker, Ryou shows everyone that the confectionery arts are already ingrained in him. After seeing Ryou's work, the three instructors also show their skills! Sayuri, who got into the school on a scholarship, finds new determination after seeing their surprising techniques.
Ryou has grown tired of seeing Tsubaki bullying Sayuri during their orientation exercise and casually gives her some timely help. Even as the instructors present their gorgeous desserts, the first cake made as a cooperative effort between Sayuri and Ryou makes a strong showing. Since the entrance ceremony, Ryou came across as a scary guy to Sayuri, but his passion for making sweets makes her see him in a new light.
As Golden Week kicks off, Sayuri is suddenly invited to shop for ingredients with instructor Suzumi Yoshinosuke and help him make a dessert as a birthday gift for a friend.
Hanafusa Gilbert, the instructor from France, is trying to make a dessert that captures the image of Japan, but it's not going well. When Sayuri shows up, he asks her to show him around Tokyo so he can learn more about Japan.
During their tour of Tokyo, Gilbert and Sayuri visit the chocolatier shop owned by instructor Aoi Mitsuki's family. They're welcomed by Mitsuki's older brothers, Ibuki and Jin, who treat them to chocolates. Then another surprising customer arrives at the shop...
