Leonardo DiCaprio finally won the praised statue, after five prior nominations. The 41-year-old actor was the favourite for the big moment at the 88th annual Academy Awards and he did not leave the Kodak Theatre in disappointment. His performance on "The Revenant" was much acclaimed and few would have bet on another to win in the Actor in Leading Role category.
Meanwhile, Brie Larson won the Actress in Leading Role, for her performance in “Room”.
Fans of Stallone could not see their idol bring home a statue for Actor in a Supporting Role for “Creed”, as the Oscar was given to Mark Rylance for “Bridge of Spies”.
A special mention to Alejandro González Iñárritu, who won his second consecutive oscar, Directing the "The revenant".
