Shane Black is hoping to convince Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson play the lead role in ‘Doc Savage’, the pulp classic adaptation.
Speaking to Thrillist, Black said: "’Doc Savage’ is sort of in the ether now. We’re hoping to make it sometime next year. I would very much like to do Doc with a fellow named Dwayne Johnson if we can make that work. I made a decision that Dwayne is the guy. It’s on the back burner while he’s busy."
The production will tell the story of Savage, created by scientists with superhuman powers, from his birth to his completion as the perfect hero.
The Rock is now busy shooting the new Baywatch blockbuster and Black will need to wait if he wants him on his project.
Johnson will play a veteran lifeguard in the flick alongside David Hasslehoff, who portrayed buff lifeguard Mitch Buchannon in the long-running TV drama series, and Zac Efron when the movie hits cinemas early next year.
