Kym Marsh has joked she should be on the top table at James Burrows\' wedding.
The \'Coronation Street\' actress - who plays Michelle Connor on the ITV soap - was delighted to hear her co-star and on-screen son (Ali Neeson) popped the question to his girlfriend Sophie Coates last week, and is expecting to have a great seat on their big day.
She said: "Huge congratulations go to my on-screen son James Burrows, who recently got engaged to his girlfriend Sophie Coates.
"I\'m so chuffed for them. I had an inkling it might happen and they have their lovely baby Betty, so I\'m really pleased.
"We\'ll definitely keep in touch after I\'ve left \'Corrie\'."
Kym quipped: "I better get an invite to the wedding as the honorary mother of the groom - I should be on the top table next to his mum."
The singer-turned-actress is currently on holiday ahead of a "busy few months", which will see her start to shoot her \'Corrie\' character\'s exit storyline ahead of her cobbles departure.
Writing in her OK! magazine column, she added: "I have a busy few months coming up as I\'ll be starting to film the lead up to Michelle\'s exit, which is towards the end of the year, so it\'s lovely to have a break now."
Last week, James popped the question in the middle of Lake Windermere in the Lake District - and Sophie made him a "very happy man" by accepting his proposal.
He wrote: "So at the weekend I asked my best friend to be my wife on a boat in the middle of the lake and she said yes and it\'s made me one very happy man #lakedistrict #engaged #happy (sic)"
