The Wanted was part of the “British invasion” of pop bands during the early 2010s
The band was formed in 2009, and by 2014, it was as popular as Little Mix and One Direction.
However, the band hasn’t performed together for more than 7 years,
And sadly, last year Tom Parker announced that he was suffering from an inoperable brain tumor.
Even though the news was bad, the band got together once again to support Parker.
And, now, more than a year later, they have announced a new charity concert to celebrate great news about Tom,
As well as raising awareness about cancer.
Parker has told the press that he’s luckily feeling better,
Apart from the fact that his brain tumor is inoperable, he went under alternative treatments,
"We are doing all we can to try and beat this disease but there are no guarantees with it... so [I'm] just doing what I can, raising awareness."
In January, he and his wife announced that the tumor had had a “significant reduction”
"Tom has had stability or reduction of the tumor every single time and his trajectory is looking really, really good,"
The initial conversation for a return started with that new, however, Tom has revealed
That he wasn’t feeling good for months, but now is finally time.
Also, there’s the added sentiment of doing this event after the tragic death of Sarah Harding from cancer.
The reunion will take place alongside his bandmates Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Nathan Sykes, and Jay McGuiness
And the gig is all organized by Tom, with the objective of raising awareness on cancer and brain tumors.
The Concert, in aid of Stand Up To Cancer and The National Brain Appeal, takes place at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday 20 September
