However, the album has also had certain controversies.
One of them is precisely the origin or inspiration that Olivia had to create it.

This inspiration has come chiefly from her relationship with Joshua Basset.
And it is here where the young actor and singer has held Olivia responsible for the perspective
that her fans give to the relationship they both had.

But I think we should really look at how much you are responsible as an artist for
what conversations go on around your art."

His songs also seem to indicate how Olivia Rodrigo manipulated
the story to make him look like a bad person.
