When we were young we all loved Nickelodeon and the various shows that were on the channel. One of the highlights was iCarly, the show that was about a website with actresses Jannette McCurdy and Miranda Cosgrove. Jannette, soon after years away from fame and the public, will release her book, titled 'I'm Glad My Mom Died', in which she describes several abusive situations she has lived through, such as when part of the senior staff of the company she worked with for more than five years, Nickelodeon, offered her money to keep quiet about the abuse she suffered.
That was an advance by Variety, which had advance access to the book, which will go on sale on August 9. In the book, the actress who also starred in other shows like Malcolm or Zoey 101 spoke without any filter the abuses suffered by 'The Creator'. Here, Jannette refers specifically to Dan Schneider, the controversial former writer of children's series of the company. Dan Schneider was also a producer of very famous series, such as Victorius, Drake & Josh, Sam & Cat, among others.
Jannette tells in her book how she received a call from Nickelodeon to give her a gift for her participation in the aforementioned series. "They are offering you $300,000," the retired actress wrote in her book, referring to what she was told by one of the executives who worked with Schneider. "Intervene manager number 2. Well, think of it as a thank you gift," he added. McCurdy recounted how executives working for Schneider told her the money was a gift, in exchange for her never talking about her experience with 'The Creator'. However, she refused, claiming that it was not a gift, but hush money.
