A long time ago, news arrived for the lovers of the movie 'Freaky Friday' and it is that, officially, there would be a second movie. However, at the time, no details about the sequel were clear, not even if the main actors, such as Lindsay or Jamie would work together again for the movie, but now, the wait is over and there are finally updates on one of the most successful stories Disney has ever had. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sequel to 'Freaky Friday' is officially in the works, and not only that, but Oscar winner Jamie Lee Curtis will be in the film as well as Lindsay Lohan, reprising one of the roles that launched her to fame in the early 2000s.
Screenwriter Elyse Hollander will be in charge of developing the film. She has been in charge of other films such as Strutter, An Ode to Demons, Love Fool, It Was Romance, Nikolai, among others.
The announcement of the 'Freaky Friday' sequel is not only official by the aforementioned media. Jamie Lee Curtis herself and Lindsay Lohan have shared on their Instagram stories the covers of the media that have revealed the news, implying that this whole thing is going to happen. Of course, being a project in development stage, no release date has been established as such. And neither has a cast to accompany the practically confirmed Lohan and Lee Curtis. But there is no doubt that we will soon know who else will be in the movie.
'Freaky Friday' was based on the 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers and grossed $160 million worldwide and is, in fact, a cultural touchstone and much more in the world of film.
