Vertical Entertainment has released the trailer for 'The Pod Generation,' a romantic sci-fi drama starring four-time Emmy-nominated actress Emilia Clarke ('Game of Thrones') and Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor ('12 Years a Slave'). In fact, the film will hit U.S. theaters on August 11 of this year. The film take place in a near future where AI is all the rage and nature is becoming a distant memory, the story revolves around Rachel and Alvy, a New York couple who are ready to take their relationship to the next level and start a family.
Rachel's job gives them the opportunity to use a new tool developed by a tech giant, Pegasus, which offers couples the opportunity to share pregnancy on a more equal basis through detachable artificial wombs or pods. Alvy, a botanist and devout purist, has doubts, but his love for Rachel propels him to take a leap of faith. And so begins the wild ride to parenthood in this brave new world.
As for the direction, Sophie Barthes is the director on this occasion ('Madame Bovary'), with Andrij Parekh as director of photography. Production is by Yann Zenou ('The Intouchables') and Geneviève Lemal for Scope ('Annette'), with Rosalie Craig, Vinette Robinson, Kathryn Hunter and Jean-Marc Barr completing the cast.
On the other hand, Emilia Clarke has been getting her acting career much more off the ground, and has joined Marvel's expansive Cinematic Universe in the series 'Secret Invasion' which premieres new episodes every Wednesday. In addition, Chiwetel Ejiofor is also part of the MCU, and was part of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
