Beyoncé is preparing to bring her Renaissance World Tour to the screens of AMC theaters. According to sources close to the singer, the agency working with the artist has met with several studios in order to sell the audiovisual project and take it to the big screen. The material contains images of her live show and the preparation of her album Renaissance. Variety magazine noted that the content will be in documentary format.
Deadline also stated that Beyoncé will announce the project on Sunday, October 1, the last date of her tour, and the artist will mostly premiere the film on December 1, a week after Thanksgiving in order to culminate her 2023 in a big way. In fact, the material will show Houston's two concerts, since the recording started there with that intention. However, sources have not confirmed if this release will be only in North America or will be in other countries around the world.
On the other hand, Beyoncé is not the only artist planning to close the year with her successful tour on screen. In fact, Taylor Swift recently announced that The Eras Tour would hit the big screen in the U.S., and later said the film, which features exclusive footage from her concerts, would be in all theaters worldwide on October 13.
When Swift, 33, first announced the film, it broke the U.S. pre-sale record in a single day, grossing $37 million. AMC reports that Swift's film may gross $100 million in its first weekend at the box office.
Both Beyoncé and Taylor are the artists with the biggest tours this year. However, according to estimates, it looks like The Eras Tour will be the highest grossing tour of all time.
