The anticipated return of the second season of House of the Dragon, the Game of Thrones spin-off finally has a release date in June. The revelation comes directly from J.B. Perrette, head of streaming and gaming at Warner Bros. Discovery, who during an interview at last Monday's Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecommunications conference unveiled the month the series will return. Although the exact date has not yet been specified, this is the most concrete information provided so far and it should reach both HBO and Max simultaneously, as happened with the episodes of the first installment.
Production on the second season began on April 11, 2023 at Warner Bros.' Leavesden Studios in the United Kingdom. Filming began during the Writers Guild of America (WAG) and SAG-AFTRA strike, which did not affect filming because the scripts had already been completed, helping to circumvent the complications brought about by the conflict where actors and screenwriters were finally able to reach an agreement in September and November, respectively.
Since its premiere, The House of the Dragon generated high expectations and managed to win over audiences with its brilliant storytelling and impressive visual sequences. The record-breaking ratings achieved with the first season proved that the stories related to the huge world of Westeros created in George R.R. Martin's novels were still of interest to Game of Thrones fans. So once again, fans are waiting to see how the story of House Targaryen will continue against the Hightowers in the next new chapters, which promise to be among the most watched premieres of the year.
The first season of The House of the Dragon is available in streaming through Max's platform.
