Hold Your Breath marks the directorial debut of the writers Will Joines and Karrie Crouse, who previously worked in famous tv shows like Westworld. The film promises to transport viewers to the dust-bowl era of Oklahoma, where Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) is taking the lead as she portrays Margaret, a grieving mother consumed by a relentless fear for her daughters' safety and affirms that a malignant force is threatening her family.
In exclusive statements for People, Paulson says "Mother-daughter connection is at the core of the story". "It's not a slasher movie. It is really, at its core, an emotional story about a woman who is desperate to keep her children safe."
Additionally, she states that "The movie, the unraveling, takes us into a different space, but the reality, the foundational circumstance of the movie, is one of a real American horror,”. Paulson also declares she found writer and co-director Karrie Crouse’s screenplay wildly potent.
Sarah also helped select the film's cast, which includes Emmy-Winner Ebon Moss-Bachrach from FX's massive success, The Bear, Annaleigh Ashford (B Possitive), and young actresses Amiah Miller (My Best Friend's Exorcism) and Alona Jane Robbins (Law and Order) as her on-screen daughters.
Furthermore, the forthcoming period thriller shooted in Santa Fe, New Mexico, boasts stunning visuals, thanks in part to the using of real dust, according to Paulson. She says the film used a large amount of loose dirt to create some overwhelming storms.
Today, the production released the first official images for the project. However, we are still eagerly awaiting the first teaser and full trailer. Hold Your Breath is ready to hit the streaming platform Hulu on October 3.
