Bridget Jones, now in a new life stage with a new love interest and concerns, returns in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. This fourth installment of the beloved rom-com franchise, possibly the last, released its first trailer today. Starring alongside Leo Woodall, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Emma Thompson, the film, produced by Universal Pictures, StudioCanal, and Miramax, will stream exclusively on Peacock in the U.S. on February 13th. Based on Helen Fielding's third book, with contributions from Abi Morgan and Dan Mazer, the film follows Renée Zellweger’s endearingly single character. The film follows Bridget in her early 50s, a single mother to Billy and Mabel after her husband Mark's death. She navigates her emotional journey with the help of loyal friends and her ex-lover, Daniel Cleaver.
Bridget, pressured by her family and friends, returns to work and tries online dating. She soon meets a younger man, Leo Woodall, and navigates a new romance. As she balances work, family, and love, she faces judgment from other parents, worries about her son Billy, and interacts with his science teacher, Chiwetel Ejiofor. In addition, returning cast members include Sarah Solemani, Sally Phillips, Shirley Henderson, James Callis, Gemma Jones, and Jim Broadbent. Newcomers joining the cast are Isla Fisher, Josette Simon, Nico Parker, and Leila Farzad. Michael Morris directed the Peacock Original, which has a theatrical feel. Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Jo Wallett produced through Working Title Films. Amelia Granger, Sarah-Jane Wright, Fielding, and Zellweger executive produced. Miramax and StudioCanal co-financed the project. However, the film is coming to Peacock next year after the success of the franchise, which grossed over 800$ million worldwide with the previous installments.
