'Dune: Messiah' is officially in development at Legendary.

The film adaptation of the sci-fi epic Dune has been a resounding success in theaters worldwide. After the release of two installments, the news that fans have been eagerly awaiting are now official. The third film, Dune: Messiah, is on its way. The trilogy will officially become a reality, offering the opportunity to witness on the big screen the outcome of Paul Atreides ' journey and his struggle to conquer his place on Arrakis. The production company Legendary, announced that Denis Villeneuve, director of the previous installments and recognized for works such as Arrival (2016) and Blade Runner 2049 (2017), will return to direct this epic finale.

During last December, Villeneuve revealed that the script for Dune Messiah was in the works, stating, "Dune Messiah is being written right now, the script is almost ready. It will take a little bit of time. There's a dream of making a third movie and making it would make a lot of sense to me."

Dune: Part Two, considered by many to be superior to its predecessor, has become the movie phenomenon of the year. Since its release on February 29, it has grossed more than $630 million worldwide, cementing itself as the highest-grossing film of 2024 so far. This number may continue to rise as the film is still in theaters, attracting audiences around the world.

In the second installment, we follow Paul Atreides ' journey as he integrates into the Fremen community and undergoes intense training to assume his role as Muad'Dib. However, his challenge goes beyond honing his skills; he must avoid a dark destiny: to unleash a war in their name and provoke a global conflict.

The franchise is also notable for its cast, which includes Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, among others.
