Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden is continuing her recovery journey after undergoing a second mastectomy earlier this month.
The dancer has openly shared her health struggles since her breast cancer diagnosis in May 2023.
Appearing on The One Show, Amy Dowden spoke about her condition just three weeks after the surgery. She reassured fans that she feels "really well" and is getting stronger every day.
"Three weeks ago yesterday, I had another mastectomy," Amy explained. "The first week to 10 days, a bit rough, but every day feeling better and stronger."
Amy clarified that this second operation was a choice she made with her medical team and was not to treat a new cancer diagnosis.
Doctors had previously told her she showed "no evidence of disease" after her first mastectomy and chemotherapy treatment.
The dancer, who has spoken before about her desire to have both breasts removed, is taking this step as a preventive measure.
She returned to the dance floor for the 2024 series of Strictly Come Dancing but had to step away temporarily to have the second operation.
She did, however, join her colleagues for the show's special episode in Blackpool recently, showing her strong spirit.
Amy Dowden told viewers she is "itching now to get back on the dance floor" once she is fully recovered. She stressed that she will not rush her recovery, prioritizing her health before returning to dancing.
