Thor is undoubtedly one of the most malleable characters of the UCM, this superhero had a very fortunate life on the big screen with the last two chapters of the saga managed, at the narrative and directorial level by Taika Waititi, namely 'Thor: Ragnarok' and 'Thor: Love and Thunder'.
Waititi has mentioned that for the superhero's next adventure, the character must maintain his evolution and present challenges that make evident his learning by overcoming his previous obstacles. To do so, Thor will have to face new threats that seem to be even more intimidating and terrible. Taika Waititi himself was in charge of making this information public. One obstacle in the plot of Thor 5 will be a villain more powerful than Hela, the shocking villain of the third installment, as Waititi feels she must be somehow more challenging.
"What's left for him to do? It has to be something that feels like it's continuing the evolution of the character, but still in a very fun way and still giving her things to deal with that seem to build on the obstacles she has to overcome. I don't think we can have a weaker villain than Hela. I feel like we need to take it a step further and add a villain that's somehow more formidable."
Waititi also believes that the character's unique qualities make him an ideal character for space adventures compared to the human characters in the UCM. For Waititi, the fun comes from his lighthearted attitude when visiting exotic worlds and encountering aliens, something that would be unlikely in other more human characters, so once again, the god of thunder demonstrates his versatility as a protagonist of new sagas.
